The Mainz emergency shelter is a service offered by youth welfare services and is aimed at young people aged 14 and over who have been unable to accept previous offers of help. We offer a safe place to stay and, in addition to overnight accommodation, also provide emergency care for those in our care. During care hours (weekdays from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 a.m., weekends and holidays from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.), we provide individual and needs-based support to young people in a setting that they accept.

For space inquiries and information, please contact the emergency shelter directly: 06131/5843272!

This is important to us

Access to the emergency shelter is deliberately designed to be low-threshold. We are available by phone 24/7, 365 days a year. After official registration by the responsible youth welfare office, young people receive initial care from 5 p.m. onwards and a safe place to sleep for the night in a shared room.

In the morning at 8:30 a.m. (10 a.m. on weekends and public holidays), the young people leave the emergency shelter and can return to the premises from 5 p.m. onwards.

If, in the course of time, an extended need for support becomes apparent or is identified by the young people themselves, our educational specialists review this together with the responsible youth welfare office and develop appropriate assistance, which is provided by the specialists at the emergency shelter and by EVIM's internal/external cooperation partners.

We work closely with all parties involved—professionally, respectfully, and in a resource-oriented manner. We place great importance on helping people to help themselves, clear agreements, and the active involvement of young people in the support process.

Our work is embedded in the structures of youth welfare: regular case discussions, team and management meetings, social space-oriented networking, as well as professional training and supervision ensure the quality of our work.

The support offered by the emergency shelter is temporary. Within 12 weeks, a perspective should be expressed and developed with the responsible youth welfare office. In consultation, the educators can help the young person to address this need and work on the respective goals.
