Visit by the Minister of Education: An Exciting Day for the School for Children of Business Travelers
At the Arolsen General and Livestock Market, the School for Children of Professional Travelers had the special opportunity to welcome Minister of Culture Armin Schwarz. Amid the lively hustle and bustle of the fairgrounds, we were able to introduce him to our work and show him exactly what the school means for children from families of professional travelers.
Thanks to our team’s dedicated preparation, everything went smoothly that day: Tobias Rudloff, our principal, had secured the necessary parking spaces for our learning vans well in advance. Emil, one of our students, helped us navigate our way through the fairgrounds. Tatjana Meißner served as our “fairy godmother,” offering advice, a helping hand, and her camera to capture the special moments. Stefan Metz provided a musical finale by playing the SfKbR school song on his guitar.
On site, Benita Masuch, together with our students, provided vivid insights into our lessons and the unique challenges that come with living and learning while traveling. A lovely personal connection emerged through the Tigerpalast, a place the Minister of Education himself knows from his own visits. This quickly made the discussion very vivid and personal.
Minister of Education Schwarz came across as open, interested, and well-informed. He took the time to examine the learning mobile closely, asked many questions, and engaged in an in-depth discussion with us. We were particularly pleased by his spontaneous offer to display the painting—which depicts our learning buses in the middle of a bustling fairground—in his office—a wonderful recognition of our work.
For us, the visit was a special and thoroughly successful day. We were able to convey an authentic picture of our school—without any grand staging, but right in the middle of the fairgrounds, close to our students’ everyday lives, and with a great deal of dedication and team spirit. (tb)
