Together, We Can Make a Difference: “Wiesbaden Engagiert” at the Wichernstift
The EVIM Wichernstift received active support as part of the “Wiesbaden Engagiert” initiative: Ten employees from R+V Versicherung spent a day lending a hand and built a new garden shed in each of the facility’s three garden areas.
The little sheds add significant value to garden therapy. Tools and materials can now be stored right on site and are always within easy reach. This makes organization easier and allows residents to be even more independent in their activities and to spend their time in the garden as they wish.
Despite the midsummer temperatures, an enthusiastic and cheerful atmosphere prevailed throughout the day. Many residents watched the activities from shady spots, struck up conversations with the volunteers, and were delighted by the visible progress in their gardens.
A barbecue lunch provided a chance for everyone to take a break together, offering an opportunity for socializing and conversation. To wrap up the day, the garden pond—which had been created several years ago as part of the “Wiesbaden Engagiert” initiative—was also tended to. With temperatures around 36 degrees, it was not only a beautiful sight but also provided welcome relief from the heat.
The Wichernstift extends its heartfelt thanks to the dedicated employees of R+V Versicherung, the volunteer supporters, and all colleagues who made this special day of action possible. Together, they created something that will enrich the residents’ daily lives in the long term. (evim)
