New Volunteers Begin Training in Outpatient Hospice Care in Rennerod
Seven dedicated individuals have begun their training as volunteer hospice caregivers at the EVIM Outpatient Hospice Initiative in Rennerod. In the future, they will support seriously ill and dying people, as well as their families, during the final stages of their lives.
To kick things off, facility director Eva Maria Dräger and coordinator Christiana Lerner welcomed the new participants to what is now the fifth course. Over the coming months, they will acquire the professional and personal skills needed for their responsible role through a series of training modules. Key topics include communication, end-of-life care, grief, and exploring their own attitudes toward illness, dying, and death.
The EVIM Outpatient Hospice Initiative is delighted with the commitment of the new volunteers. Together with the already trained hospice companions, they will support people during a particularly sensitive phase of life and thus make an important contribution to hospice care in the region. “There are currently 13 cases being supported,” says Christiana Lerner. This shows just how much this kind of commitment is needed.
